Success Photography are graduation focused, they needed to expand into school photography

Success & TSPC

TSPC is one of the largest school photography companies in the UK.  They have just joined with Success Photography, one of the largest graduation photography companies in the UK.  Both companies wanted to integrate their systems.  So they now use a TechBank parsing TechBrick.  These are custom components that sit between two systems that don’t really get on.

After meeting with both companies and visiting their production facilities, we came up with a way of capturing TSPC's school photograph information in XML.  From there it can be transformed into a SQL commands to fit into Success Photography's bespoke database, or into a TXT file that can be imported into TSPC's Halse database system.

Our next project with these two companies is to convert the print orders coming from Success's bespoke web systems into XML so that we can use the same process to convert then into TXT files for TSPC.  This project is an equal mix of service and software.  And we have had some long journeys visiting graduations with Success and some early mornings visiting schools with TSPC.

We learn more on site during these kinds of project than we could ever learn in a million hours of meetings.  It's the tacit knowledge that we collect on these visits that allows our TechBricks to be customised for what you actually need, without you needing to undertake a separate business analysis audit.  Everything is included when you buy the TechBrick.

When we joined with Success we were worried that we would have to do a lot of double typing to transfer everything across. Our busy periods are the opposite of Success’ so it made sense to use each other’s production facilities to smooth out our capacity problems.

TechBank’s code sits between the systems translating the output of two very different programs back and forth. So we no longer need to worry about capacity, we just point the orders at a printer and click send!
