Last weekend was my grandfathers 93rd birthday. He’s doing fantastically and we threw a bit of a party in my home town in Chadderton near Manchester. Cake, candles, Old Speckled Hen and home cooked food. Fantastic. I didn’t want to miss it but I had a lot of work to do for Techbank, specifically I had to work with Peter (Executive Chairman here at TB) on some legal documents covering the IP protection for some of our developers.
This gave me a great chance to set up and try out one of our newest TechBricks. We’ve just put some of the finishing touches on the Secure Collaboration TechBrick. It’s essentially a shared network drive but without needed to be on a network.
So I installed the system on my laptop and Pete’s laptop. Pointing it at a folder called “Techbank Legal” which sits in my documents. Magically all the work we had done filled up into my laptop, I jumped on the train and took off “oop Nurth!”
My two hour train journey turned into a productive two hours work. Only interrupted by the quiet sobs of the other passengers who had to fork out for expensive and slow on train wi-fi. Since the Secure Collaboration TechBrick syncs over the network, instead of sharing I could work on the files without a connection.
I spent the week up in Manchester, catching up with Grandad and the rest of the family. While at the same time finishing off all my work on the IP contract for our developers. Why compromise!
